All marketers must be strong writers and communicators, which is why I come from a strong writing and editing background. I believe in overcommunicating with team members — especially in a virtual space — and asking questions to confirm my understanding.
Marketing should be created based on the needs, opportunities, and potential success of the customer. The most successful campaigns of my career highlighted the benefits of solving a prospect's pain points before discussing how current customers overcame the same challenges.
I am a successful marketing manager because of the people who mentored me. Today, I actively seek mentor-mentee relationships with younger professionals and students. To paraphrase Besty Plank: When you get where you're going, turn around and help the person behind you.
